PoweringAthletics is pleased to announce the release of their newest product called the SkinnerShooter. The first ever shooting device that tracks & strengthens the full slap shot. “The thrill of every game is in finding the back of the net - there is nothing more exciting.

Improve your hockey shot - Wrist shot, Slap Shot, Backhand Shot, and Snap Shot. The SkinnerShooter is the first hockey shooting device to train hockey shooting with a unique tracking concept. Unlike other tubing products that have been used in the market, the SkinnerShooter uses specially designed resistance bands and pulley system to follow the travel of the stick movement. The load remains constant through the whole range of motion or the full swing.

The system has two specially designed resistance bands (Rhino Cords) that run around specifically designed pulleys with special high speed ball bearings (not available in stores) allowing for a smooth action with each movement. When the player raises their stick up to their shoulder or above for the slap shot, the stick blade strap and pulley are drawn up the channel of the wall unit. As they follow down and through the shot, the unique pulley system tracks down through this motion. No other system on the market allows this type of freedom. This is important in order to keep the resistance near the blade of the stick and not artificially high throwing the player's move out of alignment.

The wrists must turn over when shooting. "Push Pull action" is an expression commonly used to describe this action. The bottom hand/wrist is down, while the top hand/wrist is turned up at the beginning of the shot. As the shot is executed the hands/wrist will turn over ending with the bottom hand/wrist turned up and the top hand/wrist is turned down. The hands work in opposites. Strengthening the muscles for these movements will greatly improve your shot.

The SkinnerShooter is designed for off ice training allowing the user to correctly align their shot, push and pull, and follow through. All of this done under resistance by specially designed bands with a smooth constant load through the movement. The player will build muscle strength, power, and quickness. Younger players must learn the proper mechanics to skating and shooting. At this young age they have not built up the muscle strength to execute the required move and often they forget how to perform the movement correctly. The SkinnerShooter will help keep their body in line for the shot and allow them to exercise the very same muscles needed to shoot the puck off the ice.
